Percentage of Initiatives
Requiring Clinician Engagement
No Progress without
Clinician Engagement
Many health executives don’t realise that the vast majority—89 per cent—of all quality improvement initiatives require clinician engagement. Without it, these initiatives consistently fail.
Put simply, clinicians can drive (or thwart) reform. The vast majority of hospital quality improvement initiatives, however—use of evidence-based medicine, improving service outcomes, standardising device use—require a cadre of engaged clinicians. In budget-constrained times, especially, clinician engagement is vital to achieving efficient, high quality care for patients.
The Clinicians at the Helm conference in London will challenge assumptions by both executives and clinical leaders that prevent true engagement and performance impact. Across the day, participants will build a framework both strategic and tactical to aid in driving reform upon return to the trust. Best practice findings are based on the Advisory Board’s work researching, publishing, and consulting with more than 2,000 hospitals worldwide.
